We’re all just Tiger Woods’ wife. by gpiv

Sixty eight bottles of beer in the fridge.

If I’m going to keep writing this blog I’m going to need some help cleaning the shop.  I keep writing and don’t get down there to get the real work done.  Volunteers?

I was watching the Masters and it came to me that the citizens of the City of Omaha are a lot like Tiger Woods’  wife.  Now I am not a moralist, some say amoral, and I am judgmental about things that generally don’t fall into morality areas, so don’t take this as hypocritical.  Observational, not judgmental.

Most of us in life don’t want to feel like people are treating us like we’re stupid.  There is nothing more demeaning than realizing that someone believes they are pulling the wool over your eyes, believing that their intelligence is superior to yours and that you won’t be able to figure out what is going on.

Do any of you really believe that Tiger Woods’ wife didn’t know what was going on?  Or that his caddy and friends didn’t have some inkling that things were amiss?

Honesty in Omaha’s hierarchy would have gone a long way toward making the move to a downtown stadium more palatable.  Like Tiger’s wife, we realized a mistress was in the air.  The cards should have been put on the table and we could have chosen to play them or fold them, but instead they chose to treat us like fools.

Do they think that we don’t know that appropriately drawn plans to refurbish Rosenblatt Stadium would have made it totally functional to service the series for the next 20 years at a substantial savings?

Do they think we don’t know that there never was a real attempt to keep Rosenblatt an option in the CWS future?

Do they think that we don’t know that when you put “Five proposals” on the slate but only do cost studies on one of those proposals, that what is going on is lip service and not a fair evaluation?

Do they think we don’t know that the NCAA needed to service their corporate partners and that refurbishing Rosenblatt was not a plan that worked for that?

Do they think we don’t know that the powers to be knew that they just couldn’t force the Omaha people out of their long-standing good seats, the ones the NCAA needs?

Do they think we don’t know that seat licenses are forthcoming?

Do they think we don’t know that the people of Omaha are not going to get the same seats, or even substantially the same seats in the new stadium?

Do they think we don’t know that we could have gotten a ten-year contract with the old stadium and then another and then another?

Do they think that we don’t know that there is not another city in the United States that would embrace this event like Omaha and make it the success it is?

Do they think that we don’t know that there are plans in place among the powers that be regarding vending and clean zones at the new stadium, but they’re just not telling us?

Do they think that we don’t know that  former politicians own a piece of the bar right next to the new stadium?

Do they think t hat we don’t know that the new stadium ignores major potential problems regarding parking, weekday traffic and crime with a location on the border of Omaha’s blighted area?

Do they think that we don’t know that The Zoo and the powers that be behind The Zoo coveted the Rosenblatt property?

Do they think that we don’t know that nothing that nothing that would have been proposed would have saved Rosenblatt after the Powers that be decided that they wanted a new stadium?

Do they think that we don’t know what an empty stadium costs the city?

Like Tiger Woods’ wife the people of the city of Omaha have stood by, knowing that something was going on, knowing that they were getting screwed, but wanting to believe something different.

And like Tiger Woods’ wife it will be awhile before the full level of deception to be disclosed and for us to know most of the truth.

And then

We’ll accept the seat licenses,and

We’ll accept whatever seats they give us, and

We’ll accept whatever clean zone the NCAA wants, and

We’ll accept the political infidelity.

But do they really think we didn’t know?????????????????????
